Frequently Asked Questions

Because every Zebulon component is hand-crafted and precision-engineered in the USA, our current manufacturing lead time is approximately 6-8 weeks for carbon wings and specialized aero components, and 8-10 weeks for standard front splitters.

For custom-profiled splitters or bespoke CNC work, lead times may vary based on design complexity. Please note:

  • Shipping Invoices: Due to the significant size variances of aero components (some splitters exceed 70 inches in width), shipping is calculated and billed separately upon completion of the build to ensure the most accurate and competitive freight rates.
  • Deadlines: If you are preparing for a specific race event or season opener, please contact us prior to ordering so we can confirm if we can accommodate your timeline.

All Zebulon splitters utilize a lightweight foam core, CNC-cut in-house to maintain precise aerodynamic profiles. We use a proprietary hand-layup process with multiple layers of high-strength carbon fiber fabric, achieving a tensile and flexural strength of up to 45,000 PSI (ASTM D790). A standard 6–8lb splitter is engineered to withstand over 1,500 lbs of downforce using only four primary mounting points, eliminating the need for external strut rods or cables.

Yes, we ship our aerodynamic solutions worldwide. However, due to the oversized nature of items like splitters and full-width wing elements, international shipping cannot be calculated accurately at checkout. For international orders, we will provide a separate shipping invoice once the component is crated and weighed to ensure you receive the most accurate freight rate. Please be aware that the customer is responsible for all duties, taxes, and customs fees.

While we have the engineering capability to design and manufacture bespoke components, Zebulon MSC focuses specifically on performance-validated aerodynamics.

A single bespoke project requires the same level of CAD modeling, CFD analysis, and tooling as a production part. Because of the intensive engineering hours involved, the cost for a one-off custom component typically starts in the thousands to tens of thousands of dollars. Unless a project is intended for a high-level competition program where the performance data justifies the R&D cost, we generally do not accept inquiries for cosmetic or "one-off" styling modifications.

Because our carbon components are hand-laid and built-to-order, we have a very limited window for changes. Once the manufacturing process for your specific layup has begun, we cannot alter the specifications. If you realize you’ve made a mistake in your selection, please contact us within 24 hours of your order. Note that custom engineering or design fees are non-refundable once the design work has commenced.

If a product title includes a specific vehicle (e.g., "E46 BMW 3 Series"), it is designed for that chassis. If it is listed as "Universal" or "Custom" it is a raw aerodynamic element. Universal parts, such as our side skirts, require custom fabrication or integration.

Zebulon does not make "Bolt-On" parts; however application specific products are made to be installed with minimal modification.

Yes, all Zebulon wing assemblies include the necessary internal and external mounting hardware for the wing element itself if you purchased a package for a specific application. For splitters and universal components, we include the hardware for the component, but please note that chassis-specific mounting brackets or "stand-offs" are often sold separately. We prioritize lightweight, high-strength hardware geared for racing applications. If you have a custom mount spacing requirement, please contact us before ordering.

Standard:
260 - 10.5" x 4.5"
330 - 14” x 5”

Optimized 2D:
260 - 11" x 7.5"
330 - 14" x 14"

High Efficiency 3D:

High Downforce 3D:
330 - 15.75" x 14.5"

The major dimensions are 37 inches square and 6.5 inches tall at the peak. We can easily add additional floor space to the sides and front if required for your build.

Short answer, no. Zebulon front splitters are high-efficiency components designed to produce significant front-end downforce. Using a splitter without a high-lift coefficient rear wing (such as our ZWG series) will create a dangerous aero imbalance, making the car unstable at high speeds. We recommend a balanced package to ensure the Center of Pressure (CP) remains longitudinally stable for your specific wheelbase and suspension setup.

All Zebulon Vehicle Specific parts are designed to provide optimal aero balance for road racing, and can be designed to meet whatever your race needs are.

We typically suggest trunk mounting if trunk access is desired since that will be limited with hinge/quarter/fender mounts. If the car is solely used for racing and the trunk is pinned on, then our hinge/quarter/fender mounts are definitely the way to go.

Because of the wide variety of chassis and bumper configurations, mounting kits are sold separately to ensure a proper fit for your specific vehicle. Most Zebulon splitters are designed for chassis-mounting and do not include a universal air dam. Depending on your setup, you may need to custom-fabricate an air dam or utilize a vehicle-specific lip to bridge the gap between the bumper and the splitter surface for optimal ground-effect performance.

The short answer is, probably not. All Zebulon aerodynamic elements are designed to be chassis specific, this includes the shape and mounting points which cannot be changed after production.

All Zebulon MSC products are constructed from high-quality UV Stable materials. This means the composite structure is engineered to resist degradation and "yellowing" from sun exposure. However, UV stability is not a substitute for an automotive clear coat.

A clear coat provides a physical barrier against:

  • Environmental Contaminants: Acid rain, road salt, and bird droppings.
  • Chemical Exposure: Harsh cleaning agents or track-day fluids.
  • Aesthetics: A high-gloss, show-quality finish.

We offer professional clear coating as an elective upcharge for customers who require maximum environmental protection and a high-gloss aesthetic. For dedicated track cars where every gram counts, many customers choose to run our components in their raw, race-ready finish. If in doubt, please reach out for a conversation.

When repairing carbon motorsport grade parts, we prioritize structural repairs for components that have suffered impact or delamination. However, we often find that "cloudy" or peeling surfaces are actually a failure of an aftermarket clear coat, not the carbon fiber itself. To determine if your part requires a Zebulon repair or a body shop visit, please check the following:

  • Is the damage cosmetic? If the carbon fabric is intact and the issue is strictly peeling or flaking on the surface, this is a finish issue.
  • Consult a Body Shop: If the damage is limited to the clear coat, we recommend engaging a professional paint or body shop to sand and re-spray the part.
  • Our Scope: Zebulon MSC focuses on the structural integrity of the composite. If we perform a structural repair, the part is returned in a functional, "race-ready" state. We do not provide final show-quality refinishing or paint-matching in-house.

We truly appreciate all interest from the next generation of motorsport engineers! At this time, Zebulon MSC does not have a formal internship program nor the bandwidth to provide the high-level, in-person mentorship and specialized training required to execute projects according to our rigorous standards.

Additionally, we are not currently offering or seeking remote internship roles.

While this may change as our operations scale in the future, our current focus is entirely on our internal engineering and production cycles. We wish all student applicants the best of luck with their FSAE programs and future careers in the paddock!
